The Sardana
The Catalan Dance group of St Laurent de Cerdans was founded after the war in 1945 by local enthusiasts.
Their first dance was the "Quadrille". They soon became well-known throughout the region and added further dances to their repertoire such as the Porro, the Ballet Cerda and the Entrellissada.
In the 1960s they danced all over France (Paris, Toulouse, Poitiers, Dijon) and abroad (Spain, Germany, the Balearics). The group took a breather in 1985-1986 but was relaunched a few years later with new dancers.
The group has just celebrated its 60th anniversary and continues to be well received everywhere. The group is made up of 40 members (children and adults), happily keeping alive traditional Catalan folk dancing.
