Arles sur Tech Cloisters
Arles sur Tech Cloisters (12 miles)
The church of Arles-sur-Tech was consecrated in 1046, although still incomplete at that time. After extensive work which began at the start of the 12th century it was consecrated for a second time in 1157.
The roof of the nave was covered with a vaulted ceiling in the 12th century, having previously had only a timber roof. The original columns were strengthened and the side arcades were added.
The southern extension also has a vaulted ceiling which was constructed at the same time as that of the nave.
The main apse is west facing
Three apses are built into the wall of the eastern façade. The main apse is over the doorway
